Venezuela has been struck by another deadly landslide, following a series of catastrophic events in the country in the last two years.

The latest in a recent series of heavy rainstorms caused torrential downpours in central Caracas that have killed over 40 people, according to the Venezuelan Red Cross.

Over 100 people have been injured, according to authorities.

The latest landslides are part of a series of natural disasters that have taken place in the last two years.

Two years ago, an earthquake killed 45, injured hundreds, and displaced thousands. Some 60,000 were evacuated from their homes, though the majority returned at the next rainy season.

In April last year, a landslide in Caracas killed 30 people and injured more than 1,000 others.

Most recently, a massive landslide in western Caracas destroyed thousands of housing units and killed at least 100 people, according to local media.
