Serena Williams teases tennis fans as she says ‘I’m not retired’

Serena Williams is at her peak when she’s not playing tennis. She’s in her prime. She’s in “my peak” or in her “prime” as she says in this video. The 38-year-old American tennis star is ready and excited to show off her “peak.”

Not a day passes when Serena is not on a tennis court and people don’t ask, “When’s the next American women’s singles player?”

But, Serena Williams? Not retired?

“I’m not retired. I’m not retired. I’m not retired. I’m not retired,” she said last month at the French Open in Paris while showing off her skills with her serve.

“I didn’t want to be [retired]. No, please, please, please, please [! I’m not retired]. Don’t tell anybody,” Williams said in the video clip that has gone viral on the internet.

If there was a time when Serena was not able to play tennis, it was 2009. She had returned to the tour in 2008 after having suffered a knee injury.

She had to wait a year to play again but still, more than seven years have passed since she last won a match on an actual court, and it’s been 20 years that she’s been on the tour.

“I guess my peak is my peak,” Serena said in the video clip that has gone viral on the internet. “I’m not retired. I’m not retired. I’m not retired.”

“I still feel like a tennis player,” she said while wearing the blue uniform of her tennis team.

She also wore her tennis outfit to the first-round match at the 2016 French Open against Kim Clijsters.
